The society has been a part Norfolk County since 1953, looking after animals both large and small.

Now located in the industrial section of Simcoe at 24 Grigg Drive, SDHS has a 3.5 acre property purchased from the County in 2004.

In 2007, volunteers moved in to the temporary office and storage facility which was set up to assist foster homes and the public, however, the need in the community grew quickly and the space was soon transformed to house the overflow of small animals ... mainly those ready for adoption.

Volunteers work round the clock to provide a comfortable and healthy environment for all animals in care, whether their stay is at the shelter or in foster care. The goal is to prepare every animal for adoption into a loving and forever home.

There are no paid positions in Simcoe and District Humane Society and the Society relies on volunteers to raise funds, answer phones, work with the animals, and deal with the public.  If you are interested in helping the animals please visit our volunteer page or the information on fostering if you have time or space.

The Society relies strictly on fundraising efforts and donations from the community, not contracted or paid by any level of government or organization to do the work in the County.

Your donation is greatly appreciated and will help SDHS continue helping the animals.

THIS IS A GOOD THING
